SELECTED PRACTICE · COMMUNICATIONS
I work on how stories travel.
Newsletter work brings together editorial judgment and recurring production tasks. A thoughtfully designed system gives each a place.
The work
I’ve built newsletter systems and communications infrastructure for organizations including the Hispanic Theological Initiative at Princeton Seminary. This is one part of my work helping mission-driven organizations use technology to support their purpose.
The workflow around the newsletter
Publishing an issue involves more than a final email. Material needs to be gathered, organized, edited, and reviewed. The finished issue needs to reach its readers, and the team needs a way to understand what happened afterward.
That makes newsletter work a useful place to think about systems: where information comes from, who needs to make a decision, and which recurring steps can be made easier.
Where software can help
Luminosa’s publicly described newsletter studio gives a non-technical editor a visual way to assemble a branded issue. Its communications work also includes reporting that helps a team understand how readers engage with the material.
The editorial choices still matter: what a community needs to hear, whose voice is missing, and what deserves care before it is sent.
